2008 Hikes
Hikes are usually on Saturdays at 10am and meet at our Brisbane Learning Center, 44 Visitacion Ave, top floor. PLEASE CALL 415.467.6631 TO RSVP NO LATER THAN THE THURSDAY PRIOR TO THE HIKE. This isn't mandatory, but it helps us to plan. We might not have a chance to call you back, though, so please assume that the hike IS happening. Rain rarely cancels a hike; in fact, it's a fantastic time to go out (if you're properly prepared).
Wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and layered clothing, and please bring water and wind / sun protection. Hike destinations and durations really depend on the abilities and desires of the folks who show up; usually we're back by 1:30 - 2. We can accommodate all ages and abilities, though we may need to make special arrangements for some visitors -- just let us know.
DIRECTIONS TO 44 VISITACION AVE: From north, take 101 South to the Sierra Pt. Pkwy exit. Follow signs to Downtown Brisbane, turning right at the first stop, then left at the next (Tunnel Road). You'll find yourself at the intersection with Bayshore Blvd across from the main entrance to town. Go straight across Bayshore onto Old County Road by the Bank of America and the little shopping center. (From south, take 101 North to Brisbane Exit and Bayshore Blvd, then take Bayshore to the town entrance at Old County Road. Turn left into Brisbane.) At the stop between the Post Office and the City Park, this turns into Visitacion Ave, the main street in Brisbane. We're on the right at the end of the first block; upstairs and in the back. To get there via bus, take the 9:17am Samtrans, route 292, from the SF Terminal.
***Please note that the Sierra Club 2B rating doesn't necessarily apply to these trips, either in terms of elevation gain or distance. We'll be revising this in the future. Meanwhile, know that our walks typically go at a moderate pace with many stops. The terrain can be steep at times, but we're never on a forced march. Walking poles can be very useful, and you will get some exercise! There are several nearby trails to which we can direct you if you REALLY feel like working after you're done with us. Most visitors seem to leave quite satisfied...

In most cases, the best way to give a tour of the sites involves a very short
