FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN: June, 2008
Buckeye and Owl, as we knew them, are gone
Many of us at San Bruno Mountain Watch first experienced the mountain in a hike into these canyons, and it is hard to accept that our old familiar paths into the mountain have changed forever.
But if fire destroys, it also opens the way to creation, and we know that as early as the next rains, the charred ground will be covered with new growth.
It's a good time to spend some time on the mountain.
Here are some
pictures and a
video of the fire.

Mountain Watch's
mission is to preserve and protect San Bruno Mountain's native American
village sites and endangered habitats from further destruction by invasive
non-native plants and urban sprawl. We educate the public, including
groups of school children, and we watchdog government agencies.
