Hummingbird sage is an aromatic, low-growing plant that can sometimes act as a ground cover, as it spreads through rhizomes. It produces stalks of bright magenta flowers from February to July, and is very attractive to hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. It does best with at least some shade, and prefers drier areas.
